In 2010, Noelle Dalton and other members of the school parents committee set about arranging an event to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the school. They toyed around with many ideas, such as a reunion dance, as had been held to mark the 50th but decided that task was too mammoth.
Instead they decided to erect and unveil a plaque on the Carnegie Library where it all began in 1940. The event was attended by many teachers and past pupils on the night. There was also a meet and greet session held at Coláiste Mhuire, earlier on the day, where 5 past pupils from the class of 1940’s met up with Mrs Hawkes and were entertained to tea and scones by the school.
